The Home Office has announced that as of 10 March 2014 all residents of Algeria, Belarus, Bhutan, Burma, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Ukraine wishing to travel to the UK for a period of more than 6 months must undergo Tuberculosis testing prior to applying for a visa.
Tuberculosis certificates are valid for 6 months from the date of issue and must be valid at the time of visa grant and arrival to the UK.
· Applicants will be required to attend a Home Office approved clinic in order to be tested and will need to provide evidence of the same with their UK visa application and upon arrival to the UK. Applicants applying on or after 10 March 2014 must meet this requirement.
· If an applicant’s certificate is close to expiry at the point of application a fresh one is obtained before travelling to the UK to ensure they are not subject to delays and medical screening upon arrival.
