United States Furlough – Delays with immigration applications and green cards if Congress denies support the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) request for funding.

The alarming drop in applications from March and the experienced reduction of 50% in receipts and incoming fees makes impossible to USCIS to maintain their current operations without receiving funding from Congress.  If no response is received from Congress before 3rd August, USCIS will need to furlough 13,000 staff members impacting regular processing times for non-immigration visas, green cards and in-country visa extensions applications.

South Africa – VFS Offices within South Africa are opening on 01 July 2020 however, to facilitate collections of outcomes via previous appointment only.

The country remains on a Level 3 Lockdown since on 1st June so there are still no permitting submission of application functions available to the public in South Africa and at South African Missions abroad.

France – A new date was announced for the opening the website for UK National’s Residents Permits prior to BREXIT.

While UK nationals have no current obligation to register in France at this moment, they now will only be able to complete the registration for French Residence Permits prior to Brexit after October 1, 2020. Registration requirement applies to UK nationals currently in France or arriving before the end of the transition period 31st December 2020 and must obtain the French Residence Permit before July 1, 2021.

India – Visa application Centers for the UK, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Turkey, Belarus, UAE, South Korea and the Dominican Republic are gradually reassuming operations.

UK and Belarus Visa Centers are accepting applications for all visa categories. The rest of the visa centers are, so far, only accepting applications for: Student Visas, Long Stay Visas, Family Reunification or E-visas (after a specific travel date).

China (Shanghai) – The two months automatic visa extension regulation granted during the COVID-19 crisis does not longer apply to those visas expiring on or after 1st July 2020.

Starting from 1st July onward, foreign nationals in China whose visa is about to expire will have to leave Shanghai, China before their visa expiring date. In case that there are still not available flights before the stay visa expiring date, foreigners have to extend their stay visa at Immigration Office by submitting the following documents: Confirmation of Unavailable Flights, Visa Extension Application Letter signed by the applicant, and original passport. Applicant’s original passport will be held by Immigration Office in Shanghai for a period of 8 working days.
