France—Updated Automatic Extension for Those Who Hold Valid French Residency Permits, Visas, “recepisses” or APSes”

The French government has updated its automatic extension for valid French Residency permits, visas, “recepisses” or “APSes” that were expiring between March 16th and May 15th 2020 from 3 months to 6 months. This extension is automatic, and there is no need to take any action in regard to processing or filing at this time. As a recommendation, those foreigners who do hold expired permits that benefit from this extension should not travel out of France as there could be difficulties re-entering the country. Currently, there has not been a decision by the French government as to whether these extensions of validity will become applicable to foreigners with an immigration status that expires in the second half of May, June or July 2020.
